Travelling to Ochanomizu

Coming from Narita/Haneda Airport

Around Tokyo, there are two main international airports: Narita and Haneda.Narita International Airport is Japan’s primary international gateway, though locates in Chiba approximately 35 miles from central Tokyo, about at least 60-minute train ride to Tokyo Station. Haneda Airport, long designated Tokyo’s domestic airport, locates closer to the city center, about 30-minute train ride to Tokyo Station, and now expands its role to be the hub to handle a tourism boom.

From Narita Airport to Ochanomizu Station

Trains

JR Line:  You can find information at the website of JR (the East Japan Railway Company) for a travel planner and prices. JR tickets are purchasable from a JR ticket machine for your trip from Narita airport to Ochanomizu. You will need to change trains once at Tokyo. When you arrive at Tokyo Station, you transfer to JR Chuo Line for Ochanomizu Station. If you wish to take an express train (Airport to Tokyo), it is highly recommend using Narita Express Tokyo Round Trip Ticket.

Keisei Line (Skyliner): You can find information at the website of Keisei Line (the Keisei Electronic Railway) for a travel planner and prices.  Tickets for Keisei Line and Skyliners are purchasable from a Keisei Ticket machine for your trip. You will need to change trains twice, at Nippori and Akihabara. When you arrive at Nippori Station, you transfer to JR Yamanote Line, and at Akihabara Station you transfer to JR Sobu Line for Ochanomizu Station.  Keisei Line also has an express train service called Limited Express, where conventional lines are extensively operated to and from Narita without extra charge. If you take the Limited Expresses (Airport to Nippori), it is recommend using a discount ticket for the Skyliner, which is only available from outside of Japan or e-ticket for your trip.

From Haneda Airport to Ochanomizu Station

Trains

Tokyo Monorail:You can find information at the website of Tokyo Monorail for a travel planner and prices.  You can buy a ticket for your trip from Haneda airport to Hamamatsucho from a Tokyo Monorail Ticket machine in the airport. You will need to change trains twice, at Hamamatsucho and Kanda. When you arrive at Hamamatsucho Station, you need to transfer to JR Yamanote Line, and at Kanda Station you transfer to JR Chuo Line for Ochanomizu Station. You can use a Monorail and JR Yamanote Line Discount Ticket.

Keikyu Line: You can find more information at the website of Keikyu Line for a travel planner and prices. You will need to change trains twice, at Shinagawa and Kanda. When you arrive at Shinagawa Station you transfer to JR Yamanote Line, and at Kanda Station you transfer to JR Chuo Line for Ochanomizu Station.

Bus

Another possibility is to use a airport shuttle bus service from Airport to major cities.
